Introduction
In March 2007 Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen, Co-Creators of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, inspired us to create an environmental eBook for Al Gore’s 7/7/07 concert.
The eBook was transformed into a local exhibition. The Environmental Hall of Fame® was created in order to present awards to the environmentalists featured in the exhibits.
A Local Green Exhibition consists of two sections:
- A quilt featuring your local community’s top sustainability initiatives. See sample local community poster here. (The poster is made into the quilt.)
- A poster that accompanies the quilt featuring each exhibitor’s logo prominently displayed under the appropriate green megatrend. See sample poster here.
The Exhibition Features the 12 Green Megatrends
The quilt and framed exhibitions contain the 12 Green Megatrends®, arranged according to the 12 Green Megatrends® Holidays. These holidays have been endorsed by top environmentalists nationwide.
We recently discovered that the 12 Green Megatrends® endorsed by top environmentalists nationwide correlate very well with the 12 recommendations of the U.S. Conference of Mayors Climate Protection Agreement.
World’s Largest Environmental & Calendar Quilt
We have chosen quilts for their three-fold sustainability features – 1) art, 2) presenting information and 3) use as a bed spread.
The World’s Largest Environmental & Calendar Quilt (66 feet long) was displayed at the AQS show in Des Moines in September, 2012.
Environmental quilts from about 50 communities will be joined together with the World’s Largest Environmental and Calendar Quilt next year around Earth Day.
The goal of the World’s Largest Environmental & Calendar Quilt is to promote the 12 Green Megatrends® to help the environment.
The exhibition will travel in the local area for one year.
